Actress Diane Langton, famed for the playing the iconic role of Nana McQueen in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, has sadly died at the age of 77. Diane, who played the role for 18 years, also appeared on shows such as EastEnders and Only Fools and Horses in her career.
Diane’s agent Shane Collins announced the sad news of her passing on 15th January, saying: “I am sad to say that Diane Langton passed away this morning.”
Following the news, tributes from fans across the world were quick to pour in for Diane.
One wrote: ‘Nooooo Not Diane Langton. I loved Nana McQueen #Hollyoaks’, with another adding: ‘rip to the wonderful diane langton a true soap icon who brought so much humour and warmth to her role and who will be terribly missed. i’m heartbroken’.
Another added: ‘n absolute total shock at Diane Langton’s passing. A very talented actress but forever remembered as ‘Juney’ in #OFAH. God Bless RIP Xx ’. (sic)
Diane started her career as a dancer and performed in a number of West End shows, before moving into the world of TV, appearing in shows such as Heartbeat, The Bill, Doctors, Only Fools and Horses and EastEnders.
In July 2007, Diane joined the cast of Hollyoaks as Nana McQueen and has been playing the role on and off for 18 years.
Diane’s cause of death is currently unknown, our thoughts are with her loved ones at this sad time.
