I’m honestly shocked by what my daughter allowed my granddaughter to do to herself. Bright yellow hair, piercings all over, and even tattoos! It looks awful. I can’t even bring her to church with me anymore — what would people think?I don’t understand this new generation of parenting where kids can just do whatever they want to “express themselves.” Is it just me, or are we losing a sense of decency here?
I love the way that older grandmas still carry the value and respect and somehow in between daughters lost that, The grandchildren should not express themselves so much until they are grown almost adult teens or out of highschool the Liberal to do whatever they want is what lack of respect to your elders looks like. I feel you i was that daughter that got the tattoos the piercings changed my hair color and my daughters being brought up the way my mother would of wanted me to be before i wildes out. Don’t get me wrong your granddaughter looks beautiful but it depends on how old she is.. I used to tell my mom don’t worry about others say they got nothing better else to do but i’m that mom that if someone looks at my daughters crazy i will take off on them so it’s better that they don’t lol My mom is proud of how my daughters look so pretty without the extras.
I’m struggling to accept the modern emphasis on self-expression in children’s appearance. My granddaughter’s choices have surprised me, and I worry about how others may perceive her. Is there a balance between individuality and traditional values that parents should strive for?
