Discount Food Box is closing its outlet food store in Groton Shopping Plaza.
The store has been running sales recently and posted about its “last shipment” coming in Nov. 11. A comment on the post asked if the store is closing, to which Discount Food Box responded: “Unfortunately. We aren’t sure on an exact date quite yet but we are anticipating by mid-December.”
Patch’s calls and emails to Discount Food Box seeking comment were not returned.
Discount Food Box sells a “wide selection of organic, gluten-free, keto, and other specialty foods including fresh local fruit, vegetables, dairy, and frozen foods,” according to its website.
Some of the sales currently going on include 10 percent off and BOGO free of the same it and 50 percent off select items like beverages, cleaning supplies, and supplements.
As of Nov. 11, the store lists hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Discount Food Box sells fresh produce, frozen, and pantry items at discounted prices. It opened in May 2023, a relocation of the store’s previous Steals & Deals location in Norwich, The Connecticut Scoop reported.
